Gigi De Lana is still carving her path into the spotlight, but in November 2023, she posted a music cover on YouTube which sent her viral online, amassing over 1.65 million views to date—a phenomenal rendition of The Animals’ 1964 hit, “House Of The Rising Sun.”

Gigi’s crisp and fiery voice soars through the scales and cuts effortlessly through the immense darkness of the track. The lead guitarist embeds a liquid solo that runs like a heavy metal inferno; all parts seem to stitch themselves together like a frighteningly epic Frankenstein’s monster, as the band resurrects this song beneath the light of a whole new genre, revamping every moment with the gripping sound of a new world hit.

Despite this unexpectedly pristine rendition that’s taking YouTube by storm, “House Of The Rising Sun” is hardly the most viewed cover Gigi Vibes have posted, topped by a 57M-times-viewed cover of Chaka Khan’s “Through The Fire” and a 21M-times-viewed cover of Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Love For You,” among countless others.

But viewers are still blown away by the power of this cover, with many older but newly-converted fans taking to the comments section to reveal how they’ve spent decades listening to The Animals’ 60s original and its innumerable covers, yet none has managed to match this sensational rendition by Gigi.

Gigi De Lana (real name: Mary Gidget Orfano dela Llana) was born and raised in the Philippines and evidently fell in love with music from an early age, appearing on the second season of “Pop Star Kids” when she was a young teenager. During the pandemic, Gigi began posting pop covers to YouTube, with countless of these vids now boasting millions of views each, thrusting her into the internet spotlight with 2.27M subscribers on the site to date.

That same year, Gigi released her debut single, “Sakalam,” and in 2022, her debut eponymous album dropped via Star Music, later winning Gigi the Aliw Award for Best Female Pop Artist the following year.
